The Marg Dennert Medallion
Each ANZAC Round the A Grade rematch between last year's grand finalists includes the presentation of the Marg Dennert RSL ANZAC Medallion.
Born in London, Marg Dennert was 16 years old when World War II broke out. Previously working in a beauty salon, Marg joined the Women’s Land Army where she spent the duration of the war. Marg went on to become the first Women's Land Army person to join the national RSL. For her service during the Second World War she received the 1939 - 1960 service medal, Australian Army Cadet service medal and the United Nations Volunteer Medal. Later in life Marg became a dedicated volunteer in the Mount Gambier community assisting the Hospital Day Care, Boandik Lodge, CWA, Red Cross and 7 years as Vice President of the Mount Gambier Community RSL.
Sadly, Marg passed away in 2016. Her legacy will live on in the knowledge that she has touched so many people with her generosity and compassion.
